Cylinder Circle
installation, dimensions variable, 2024
Cylinder Circle is a work that explores the personal and social meanings of looted objects. The phrase "how the things move, but what moves them," written on the geometric works placed throughout the exhibition, is borrowed from the German contemporary dancer Pina Bausch’s saying, "how people move, but what moves them," and extended into the context of objects.
This phrase raises questions not only about the physical movement of objects, but also about the historical and cultural context and meaning of objects that have been altered through looting.
