Text to Text is a linguistic and physical experimental work based on the concept of “intertextuality.” By applying the idea that “one text is connected to all texts,” the physical distance between each word in a text-based dictionary is marked. Starting with the word “text” in an 814-page English dictionary, the last word of the first definition of each word is selected, and a rule is applied to connect the two words by their physical distance with a line. When the pages are bound together or separated into individual sheets, these lines transform into an indeterminate state, much like language itself. Furthermore, according to the rules, the selected texts take the form of word collections or poems. Based on the fundamental idea that all languages are connected, this book is continually being created.
