things and words

82x110mm, wireless binding book, 2022
The book poses the question, "How can language be defined and expanded?" The way language is defined varies depending on the era, region, and the unique language systems of different countries. Even when using the same language, the name given to an image differs according to an individual's experiences, perceptions, and thinking. This indeterminate nature of language applies not only to objects but also to images. Participants were shown the same shape and asked to freely express what came to mind. The fact that people speak different words depending on their race, education, abilities, background, and knowledge emphasizes the diversity of language and perception.
The process of connecting objects, shapes, and language involves assigning names through language, and these names can be substituted with different words, forms, or images.
